An electric control panel is an enclosed thick moulded plastic or metal box which contains electrical components that operate to control and monitor several mechanical processes. These printed circuit boards are connected to all the peripheral devices in a particular area. The enclosure of a control panel is a metal box in different sizes and is typically made up of aluminum or stainless steel. An electrical control panel enclosure can have multiple sections and may have one or maximum two doors. A person, usually an operator, will need access to the control panel to find out the fault or damage, if any, for making adjustments and for electrical safety testing.
The operators interact with the panel to operate and control the process flow of electricity, hence, safe operation of panels is a sensible skill for both electrical and non-electrical workers. These panels range from a small box on a wall to long rows of cabinets located in dedicated plant areas.
